CalRo President's Message

1978 to 2016

Welcome to the California Association of Labor Relations Officer’s homepage.

Ryan Brett, CALRO PresidentRyan Brett, CALRO President

It is with great honor that I have accepted the nomination to be the president of this fantastic organization for 2016-2017. I am humbled to be among such experienced and professional law enforcement organizations and members. We are among challenging times in law enforcement and CALRO is committed to adapting to the changes and progressively training law enforcement agencies and members to meet the challenges that await them.

In the coming months, CALRO will be providing training critical to law enforcement operations in regards to labor disputes, expressive activity, constitutional rights, picketing, and civil liability. We are planning on a very informative and exciting conference in Southern California in Rancho Mirage. Through these trainings, we are able to share information relating to the previously mentioned topics, as well as make connections with members of other law enforcement agencies, businesses, and labor groups. These connections prove highly valuable in times of disputed contracts and other situations where relationships between factions ease difficult negotiations or situations resulting in law enforcement involvement.

Without doubt, law enforcement is facing challenging times ahead, where change is not an option, it is a mandate. Both society and law enforcement are going to have to make changes to ensure continued professional relationships between all groups involved. Through proper training, cooperation, communication, and sharing values and opinions, we can help to ensure we maintain our professionalism as law enforcement officers. We are committed to respecting the rights provided by the Constitution of the United States, and fairly represent our communities which we are sworn to protect and serve.

Thank you for your support of the California Association of Labor Relations Officers (CALRO).

Ryan Brett
